Weave Study Group
Coming soon! The
Small Looms Group
We
are a group of weavers and aspiring weavers who gather to share and learn
about different ways to weave, or just to hang out and weave together.
Originally held at the Pemberton Library, the Small Looms Group now meets at
the Mount Holly
Library, from 10:30 to 1:30 on the first or second Saturday of the month.
(We share the room with the spinners). Any type of small portable loom is
welcome, including table loom, rigid heddle, backstrap,
inkle, card, frame, tapestry, or potholder. A limited number of looms are
available to Guild members for shortterm loan. Or
we can get you started making your own loom. Come join us! Tapestry
Study Group
Two of our
accomplished Guild members teach a tapestry class nearly every Thursday from
10 am – 1 pm. The group meets either in Medford Leas or Cherry Hill in their
respective homes. Beginners are welcome, as well as those who have had
tapestry weaving experience. The looms that are used are very simple and
inexpensive to make and there is very little initial outlay for supplies.
During the course of the classes Betsy and Rita teach how to warp the loom;
practice basic techniques; and discuss design and material issues. For more
information please contact: Betsy: btweaver(at)medleas(dot)com or Rita: ritapland(at)yahoo(dot)com. Narrow

electric tea kettle are available. We will be eating at 12:30. Here's an
open invitation to any weaver who has a table, inkle, frame, tapestry,
tablet, rigid heddle or backstrap loom! Please join
the SJGSH weavers for a Rock Day of fiber camaraderie! Note: Distaff Day, or Distaff's Day, the morrow of the Epiphany, that is, (on
or about) January 7, because working at the distaff was then resumed, after
the Christmas festival; -- called also Rock Day, a distaff being called a rock. --Shipley. [1913
